Kurzweil KS-40A Monitor Bluetooth Upgrade

Two power resistors are used in series to reduce the load on the L7805 voltage regulator, which has to drop 24v from the amplifier board down to 5v. An XP IE0505S DC/DC convertor is used to keep the power to the digital audio source isolated from the amplifier's ground.

The DIP switches are used to select the BM62's programming mode. Updated firmware and configuration data are uploaded using the Microchip Bluetooth utilities software via the UART interface, which allows extensive customisation of the BM62. Customisations in this case involved changing the device name to something more descriptive, and amending operating parameters relating to the multi-function button and status LEDs.

Adhesive backed PCB supports are fixed with Araldite to the inside of the unit to ensure the board stays in place.

The blue illuminated push button (PS001-N11NAWUBXX) fits nicely between the two control potentiometers on the back panel. As it happens, this was the only space available due to the positioning of the smoothing capacitors, and stereo amplifier IC (TDA7269A) which is screwed to the back panel for heat dissipation.
